Biography

Hallie is a writer from North-Manchester. Hallie graduated with a BA (Hons) in Literature from the University of Manchester and has completed an MA in Creative Writing. Hallie lives and breathes Creative Writing and first became involved with the Portico Library in 2010, when she won the Portico Prize for Young Writers and was published in the competition’s anthology. Hallie went on to publish three poetry collections, Love, Sex & Death, Moth and Love’s Language as well as journalism pieces. Her poem Apple of My Life, inspired by Alan Turing, was performed live in an opera by a Canadian Composer. During the year of 2022, Hallie became a member of the Society of Readers and Writers and helped judge the longlist for the prestigious Portico Prize. In both 2022 and 2023, Hallie was a writing judge for the Sadie Massey Award’s with which she felt a deep connection to due to once being an entrant of the Portico Prize for Young Writers herself, to then judging the PSMAwards over a decade later. Hallie is currently working on her fourth poetry book, Metamorphosis.
